We are now running on OpenSource GTD application

written by Giorno on Sunday, 2 October 2011

Children of Chaos,

as it was foreseen long time ago, we finally managed to rewrite our online GTD application and published its source code as OpenSource software under Apache License Version 2.0. During the rewriting we had to alter architecture of the product and split it into 3 (actually 5) separate packages:

  1. Chassis framework, providing basic Session Tracking, Preferences and User Interface classes.
  2. N7 application container, a lightweight
  3. GTD, which comprises GTD compliant Stuff application and Address Book.

Two aforementioned extra packages are:

  1. 3rd party software used by Chassis and, to various degree, N7 and GTD. Separated from the sources as it contains software, which has different license or has own development and release cycle.
  2. ClosedSource public web interface for gtdtab.com service. As this is only thin layer providing base

Although there is a lot of improvements to features, Look&Feel and few fixes of pretty annoying bugs from the past, product has same functionality as previous version, therefore this time we do not provide standard release notes. Another reason is that current versions of packages deployed at the site are first Beta versions in accordance to Perpetual Beta concept. So far service is translated into English, Slovak and Czech, but there is undergoing effort to provide more localizations, German and Russian, to be precise.

Please, you are all welcome to try it yourself, use it and if you find bug or get an idea for improvement or new feature, please share it through the site features (you must be signed in for that) or here in discussion. You are also encouraged to participate in the development, it should be pretty easy now, when we are OpenSource. That way or another, just give us shout so we know about each other.

The place to start is www.gtdtab.com.

Thank you all for your patience and we promise that we will try to continue our work.

So say we all!
